I know we keep saying 'anti-inflammatory' this, 'antioxidant' that--but here's a smoothie that's really both of those things, and will lift your spirits as a bonus. I was having a self-imposed detox cleanse day on Saturday, and so felt compelled to make a smoothie that really feels special, and not just like some filler snack to have on the go. I pulled together ingredients with healing and beautifying powers in mind.
Carrots: 1 medium carrot has over 200% of your daily Vitamin A needs. Vitamin A is one of the most anti-aging, skin-repairing nutrients out there (which is why I put A-rich oils on my face). When ingested, it does other important things like keep your eyes healthy.
Grapefruit: one grapefruit meets just about 100% of your Vitamin C needs for the day, keeping your immune system strong. It's also one of the most polyphenol-rich fruits around, giving you antioxidant boost. Finally, grapefruit relieves stress and depression and fills you with a sense of optimism with its bright citrus scent.
Ginger: It's warming, healing, and anti-inflammatory. It's also good for your digestion, reduces anxiety and calms.
These three main flavors work so well together into one vibrant, fragrant and uplifting flavor! I added maca powder for extra protein, magnesium, iron and zinc. This smoothie is as delicious as it is gorgeous--enjoy!
