Vegan Salad Recipes: Aphrodisiac Arugula Salad

August 14, 2015
Arugula is a superfood, the culinary history of which dates back to Ancient Rome. It was commonly consumed by the Romans due to the belief that it would bring "good luck" to the person eating it; and soon it was discovered to be natural and powerful aphrodisiac. Arugula was associated with Priapus, the Roman god of fertility, and it was popular practice to make love potions using this leafy green. The high amounts of trace minerals and antioxidants found in arugula, when consumed regularly, cleanse away environmental contaminants that hinder our sexual health, resulting in a more energized libido. Other health benefits of arugula include its hydrating and cooling effects in the summer, the ability to reduce inflammation of the body, liver cleansing and detoxifying support, reducing the overall risk of cancer, and weight loss. There are only 20 calories in 2 cups of arugula and it is best eaten raw to ensure you are taking advantage of its many nutrients.
