With warmer weather upon many of us, our attention is turned to the lighter, more playful fashions of spring. Aside from losing layers, spring is a great time to reassess your wardrobe, clean out what’s no longer serving you, reunite with old favorites, give yourself a confidence makeover, and treat yourself to a few new pieces that make your wardrobe feel like new.
The following are a few fun picks for vegan spring clothing and accessories. Each choice reminds me of a theme that continues to come up in fashion and makeup: minimalist luxury—the idea that less is more. Not only does this apply to aesthetic matters– minimalist luxury extends to ethical matters, too. Increasingly, the beauty and fashion industries move towards minimally processed staples with the least amount of negative environmental impact or harm to animals. There’s still a long way to go, but we can celebrate the fact that cruelty-free fashion has a foot in the door of public awareness.
Gloriously destroyed, these comfy jeans are perfect for a Saturday morning trip to the farmer’s market or favorite weekend café. These “baggies” aren’t about impressing anyone else–or uncomfortably constricting your movement like some jeans. Rather, they’re about letting your own awesome attitude shine through.
2. Missguided V Back Bar T-Shirt
Sexy yet demure, this loose-fitting top is subtly feminine. Perfect over black (vegan) leather legging or distressed denim shorts, this flirty tee can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
3. Delikate Rayne Blue Statin and Venice Lace Trim Shorts
Conceived by ethical and vegan clothing company Delikate Rayne, these sky-blue satin shorts are probably the prettiest pair of shorts I’ve ever seen. They would pair beautifully with a white button-down blouse or a simple black tank.
4. Animal Behavior Savanna Jacket – Ivory
With its clean lines and unique black lapel, this spring blazer from ethical designer Animal Behavior is perfect for work and a swanky cocktail hour. To dress it down, pair with your favorite black skinny jeans.
5. Silence + Noise Vanessa Cupro Romper
Full of youthful swag, this sharp little romper is perfect for your next casual date (coffee in the park?) or meetup with your gal pals (afternoon manicure therapy?). To keep the look demure, pair with a lightweight cardigan and chic ballet flats.
6. Matt & Nat Mitsuki LG – Amazon
A favorite vegan purse brand among ethical shoppers, Matt & Nat never fails to produce high-end bags without the suffering that accompanies the leather industry. This emerald weekender is no exception–plus, it’s got room for all of your essentials!
Forget those dainty sandals of last spring (or don’t–I still like them!). These clog-sandal-bootie hybrids are leather-free and not for the faint of heart. Pair with distressed jeans (see #1) for a fashion-forward, edgy look.
