Sarah Gadon, Star Of Alias Grace, Shares Natural Beauty Tips For Her Flawless Skin

November 26, 2019

If you have watched the popular Netflix series Alias Grace or Hulu’s 11/22/63 (based on Stephen King’s novel), you are already familiar with actress Sarah Gadon.

Alias Grace, based on Margaret Atwood’s book, is a true story. Gadon plays a servant that in the 1800s was accused of murder and she is brilliant in the role, so if you haven’t checked it out I suggest you do so! In 11/22/63 she stars with James Franco and she totally rocks the early 60s look—classic with a bold red lip. She’ll give you makeup envy!

Of course Sarah has filmed lots of other projects, but these are the ones I know her from and if you’ve also seen some of her works, you probably admire her wonderful complexion, like me: her skin is fair and looks absolutely flawless! Set on borrowing a few tips and possibly trying out products she uses, I did some research.

We know that getting enough sleep is one of the most important things you can do to take care of your skin. No product, as nourishing as it is, can rescue from the damage done by the lack of rest! So Sarah says she tries to get a lot of sleep and to also eat clean, which, she admits, can be difficult when she’s traveling. In that case, she swears by green juices. If she’s home, on the other hand, she’ll make a vegan milkshake using almond milk, frozen bananas and powdered peanut butter. Check out Peaceful Dumpling’s similar High Protein Tahini Date shake.

Moving on to the topic of actual skincare, Sarah states that when she wants to moisturize her skin she loves using raw aloe vera as a hydrating mask as it works very well and it’s completely natural. If you’re breaking out and you’re in need of something to clear up your skin quickly, why not try The Body Shop’s tea tree oil stick? She swears by it to makes blemishes disappear fast. She also uses the company’s plain tea tree oil.

Other times you might be in need of a little pick-me-up: Sarah loves using Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask because it brightens your complexion and plumps everything. Ingredients include Hectorite Clay, which draws out impurities and hydrates skin, and marine exopolysaccharides, derived from plankton, that plump fine lines and tighten collagen fibers, providing an immediate lifting effect. Tata Harper’s masks and serums are also amazing and splurge-worthy (hey, it’s almost Christmas after all).

Sarah divulged a few of the tricks she’s learned in her line of work that all of us might find useful. For example, when your mascara is almost finished you should be able to rescue it by running the tube under hot water. The mascara will melt and you’ll get more applications out of it.

Concerning the delicate eye area, which is problematic for lots of people, she revealed that she keeps spoons in the freezer with a little bit of eye cream, and then in the morning if you wake up a little puffy you put the cold spoon and cream underneath your eye and it calms them and feels really good too.

Another lovely tip is about exfoliation and it’s totally free. “Before you apply your lipstick and makeup, if you take a facecloth and run it under warm water and rub it on your lips it exfoliates them. It’s so simple, you don’t need product and it makes your lips totally smooth and plump and ready for a good lip application.”

She says that dyeing and changing her hair for roles has done a number on her hair, so she enjoys using dry shampoo every now and then to wash her hair less often and avoid damaging it even more.
