We’ve covered DIY juicing in the past: what type of juicer to get, how to get the most out of your green juice (both taste and nutrition-wise)…but sometimes we just don’t have the time or energy (or at-home juicer) to make that happen, amiright?
Just because you can’t always hit that ideal doesn’t mean you can’t reap the benefits. There are plenty of healthy drinks at the grocery store that promise “wellness in a bottle.”
But are they really as healthy as their labeling would like you to believe? Well, it depends. The majority of beverages on the market that may have false labeling that are scary bad for your health, but there are quite a few … that totally rock.
I’d like to think of myself as a healthy drink connoisseur. I research labels and when there’s a new (truly) healthy drink on the market, I always try it out.
Here are some of my favorite health drinks that are not only nutritious, but also taste so darn good.
When I first tried Mamma Chia, I was totally in love. I had never tasted anything like it before with the jello-like gluten-free goodness and the flavors, yum! I did more research on chia seeds and they instantly became a staple in my diet. Chia seeds are the hottest new superfood and for good reason. In fact, they are considered one of the healthiest foods on the planet! Important side note: Lots of nutrition, tiny amount of calories.
One bottle of Mamma Chia packs in your entire day’s worth of omega-3’s (2500 mg), 7 grams of fiber (will get your digestion moving!), 4 grams of COMPLETE protein (vegans, rejoice!) as well as good amount of Vitamin A and Calcium.
Now, welcome Mamma Chia’s new line of Chia & Green Beverages. I’ll tell ya, it’s every health nut’s dream drink. I couldn’t pick one in particular out of the four, because they are all nutritionally-special in their own way. But the flavors are:
Grateful Greens (Kale & Mint) – So refreshing!
Joyful Greens (Ginger & Lemongrass) – If you adore Asian cuisine, then you have GOT to try this.
Love Greens (Beet & Ginger) – Amazing for your digestion and as a blood builder (I like to call this “The Happy Vegan”).
Soulful Greens (Cayenne & Lemon) – I just love the added kick!
When Mamma Chia’s founder, Janie Hoffman, had suffered from debilitating autoimmune diseases for over 20 years, it was chia seeds (paired with other lifestyles changes) that helped restore her to good health. Now her mission is to share her story and Mamma Chia’s mission as an all organic, environmentally- friendly company. Love stories like that! Don’t you?
How do I love Organic Gemini Chai Tigernut Horchata? Let me count the ways:
- Vegan- Essential, of course.
- Gluten-free- No worries there.
- Paleo- Always good to know.
- Chai- One of my favorite drinks, period.
- Cold-pressed- Heat was not used to destroy vital nutrients and enzymes.
- Prebiotics and Probiotics- So beneficial for your gut health.
- Fiber and Iron- Can’t stress enough how important these are for vegans and everyone, really.
- TIGERNUTS!- Tigernuts are my new obsession. They made up over 80% of our paleo ancestor’s diets and have the same benefits for the heart as olive oil. Tigernuts help prevent cancer, control diabetes and gives you more potassium than a banana! Plus, it’s a perfect substitute for milk and is a great source of non-animal protein. Rawr!
Kombucha is a powerful probiotic tonic. Kombucha is like a health nut’s good-for-you beer, is how I look at it. It has that same fizz with a punch! This unique Kombucha Wonder Drink is raw, fermented tea with enzymes and antioxidants. Plus they added in healing spices like Cardamom, fresh Ginger, Holy Basil (Tulsi) and even Rose Petals which is known for its beautification benefits!
And then there’s this. Turmeric is one of the most talked about super-spices today. Temple Turmeric designed all their golden drinks around the healing properties of Turmeric and EVERYONE needs to know about it. I’ve actually went on a day long cold-pressed juice cleanse with Temple Turmeric juices and the results were really astounding. More energy, better complexion, increased digestion and more. I felt satisfied and fulfilled and was temped to keep going! (Next time, next time).
Golden Mylk is the fabled “milk & honey”* with spices used traditionally in Ayurveda to increase agni (digestive fire) and heal many ailments in the body. This is one of my faveys.
Many of us lack the proper amount of greens in our diet. I’m personally always trying to cram more greens into my diet the easiest way possible … through juice! With ingredients like Cucumber, Celery, Chard, Lettuce, Kale, Spinach and Parsley, you can’t go wrong. Plus Suja put a spin on it by adding in Peppermint and Spearmint tea, which makes it go down smoother with just a touch of lemon.
Okay, this is my “wildcard” because it’s not a ready made drink, but you can mix it with any mylk product and BAM! I like to call this my “breakfast of champions” because I enjoy it in the morning with some heated hemp milk and it’s my total coffee replacement. Anandamide a.k.a. “Bliss Alchemy” is an exquisite blend of unsweetened and Raw Heirloom Cacao and tonic healing herbs. Raw cacao has been scientifically documented to inspire an experience of a blissful state, “Ananda,” and I have to admit … I do feel blissful when drinking it!
It’s also hand-crafted in small batches using organic or wildcrafted ingredients, freshly-ground spices, and a wholelotta Love. This blend is said to reduce stress, help with digestion, & boost your immune system.
