5 Winter Beauty Updates to Get You Party Ready | Peaceful Dumpling

Stunning Maple Leaf Headband—Perfect for a holiday party or winter date night!

Do you have any winter beauty resolutions? I do! My seasonal beauty resolution is to have fun! The beauty opportunities during the holidays seem to come and go too quickly—I mean, at what other time of year will it be appropriate to bust out the glitter with such fervor than during the holidays?

You don’t have to have a slew of glamorous holiday parties lined up to get festive in the beauty department, however. A night out with your special someone—or even a night in spent decking the halls, sipping vegan eggnog, and singing along to classic tunes—may call for a few vegan and cruelty-free winter beauty updates. Here are my suggestions:

1. Winter-proof the delicate skin around your eyes with a supercharged natural eye oil.

The foundation of outer beauty is healthy skin. The foundation of inner beauty is a much longer story, but a little organic oil couldn’t hurt, especially if they contain rose oil—like Hana Organic Skincare Eye Oil—which is said to open the heart chakra 😉

Pat a rich oil or cream around your eyes before bed to keep that thirsty skin supple in the dry air that accompanies cold weather. If your skin is well hydrated, makeup will be less likely to sink into fine lines. Don’t let Old Man Winter make you look crusty!

2. Decorate your digits with party-ready polish.

Remember I mentioned that holiday night in? A DIY mani is one of the most fun ways to get festive—even if you’re by yourself and Netflixing with your kitty. Gold, silver, sparkly reds, deep greens, and unapologetic glitters are all wonderful choices for a party-ready nail polish.

3. For some truly stunning #MOTD, add a pop of color to your smoky eye with a playful palette.

Give your smoky eye a modern update by adding a bit of color—plum or forest green are fun options. Just be sure that you’re choosing the right eyeshadow color for your iris color to really make your eyes take center stage! This Jane Iredale palette offers shades for both neutral/daytime looks and bold/colorful looks (perfect for a night out!).

4. Embrace that a little hair bling at a holiday party is inevitable, and rock a pretty, gold headpiece.

My love affair with headbands is unending. Headbands are probably the easiest way to dramatically change your hairstyle without doing much hairstyling. Headbands tend to flatter most styles and textures (making them a safe bet for a holiday gift!). They can also be worn in a variety of ways—tucked towards the back of the head with just a bit peeking out or worn toward the hair line, neatly slicking back the hair. It’s hard to go wrong!

5. Turn up the shimmer factor with a finely milled dusting powder or shimmer cream.

For a more adult take on glitter, try a subtle shimmer powder. Simply apply along your limbs where the light tends to hit. Less is more here, so don’t feel like you need to coat your entire bod. Think of it as strobing for the body. In fact, for a subtle effect,  you can even use your facial highlighter on your limbs!
