Victoria's Secret Angels Reveal Their Essential, Post-Show Skin & Hair Care Tips

January 11, 2018

The life of a high-profile model is undeniably full of lush perks, but days spent traveling, wearing heavy makeup, and having your hair coiffed into the perfect, “effortless” beach waves takes its toll on the health of skin, hair, and nerves. Victoria’s Secret Angels (a.k.a. modeling royalty) don’t have time for split ends, breakouts, and general frazzledness, however–and quite frankly, neither do any of us, goshdarnit! Fortunately, these beauties are eager to share their essential post-show skin and hair recovery rituals. Even if you haven’t been over-processing your hair/skin/nails/spirits, these self-care routines make lovely weekend activities–cue sheet masks and Netflix!

Bella Hadid

After strutting the runways, Bella Hadid follows an intensive skin and hair recovery regimen: “My skin is tripping out, and I think my hair got washed four times yesterday, so usually I like to do a lot of masks. I like to not wear makeup also. I have a few weeks off, so I’m going to drink a lot of water, do a lot of detoxing and try and get my body back to the way I like it to be. So, lots of hair and skin masks and just giving my body what it needs.” See more of Bella’s relaxation and self-care tips.

Josephine Skriver

Ms. Skriver’s best beauty trick is actually free:  “Smile – having a positive attitude is always key. If you look good, you feel good,” she says. In addition to putting your best face forward, she also swears by an age-old wellness staple–“Hot water with lemon and sometimes a little ginger: Drinking this every morning and evening is one of my favorite routines. Beauty shines from the inside out.”

Elsa Hosk

When traveling, Elsa keeps Sakara Life Beauty+Detox Water Concentrates on hand. They’re travel-friendly and easily added to water. Elsa also loves a good bath to help her unwind and recover from a long week: “I prefer audiobooks in the tub so I can have my eyes closed in the dark with some candles lit.” Also present in the model’s soothing bath? Epsom salts!

Sara Sampaio

For Sara, proper hair care goes a long way. “With my hair, I only need two things: a good haircut and a good conditioner. If I don’t have any time to do anything else, I’m good to go. I work almost every day and when I get home, I have a lot of products in my hair. The one thing that I hate is going to bed with my hair dirty with products because then it gets onto my skin and I start breaking out, so I tend to always take a shower at night before I go to bed.”

Lily Aldridge

Like Bella, Ms. Aldrdige is also a huge fan of masks. In fact, she never misses a day of masking. “I do sheet mask every day!” she says. “They are so great when you are at home. My daughter thinks they are hilarious.”

Rachel Hilbert

For Rachel, looking your best is all about what you put into your body: “[Get] as much rest and sleep as possible. It’s your body’s way of recharging itself,” she says. “Hydrate constantly–water helps flush out any toxins in your body. I try to drink at least 8 8-ounce glasses of water a day or more. I take a probiotic every morning before I eat breakfast. It helps detoxify the body naturally and is good for overall digestion and health.”

Taylor Hill

Supple, moisturized skin doesn’t have to break the bank. Taylor Hill doesn’t go anywhere without one inexpensive do-it-all ingredient–coconut oil: “I put it all over my body and sometimes my face. I like to have coconut oil with me when I’m traveling,” she said. “It’s easy to put in a travel-size container and carry it around.”

Stella Maxwell

Beauty Stella Maxwell says a healthy diet is her defense against premature aging. “Eating right is a natural defense against the sun. Sweet potatoes, dark chocolate, pomegranates, leafy greens, almonds, and teas all help against the sun.” Sounds like a good plan to us!
