Natural Beauty: Romantic Lipstick for Date Night

Wearing “Purely Kissable” by Juice Beauty with a smidge of clear gloss.

I love a glam look as much as the next girl, but sometimes I’m in the mood for a softer, more romantic look.  I recently purchased Juice Beauty’s “Purely Kissable Lip Color”—and just in time for last weekend’s date night.  Between the two of us, my fiancé and I have been pretty busy—applying to jobs, starting a new job, caring for our new kitten (such a chore…just kidding!).  That’s why it’s especially important to make time for just the two of us and go on a date at least once a week.  We love settling down in a cozy bar, trying a new restaurant, or simply going for a long walk in the park.  All are lovely occasions for a sweet, rosy lip.  I love this color because it’s so versatile.  Perfect for work, shopping, or coffee with a friend, a gentle pink is at once natural and girlie.

Purely Kissable Juice Beauty

Although I found a great classic red lipstick months ago, I was still on the hunt for a flattering creamy pink—until now. On Peaceful Dumpling, we’ve spoken about the dangers of conventional lipstick and how they can be easily avoided, considering the plethora of vegan, toxin-free lippies out there. We can now add “Purely Kissable” to the list.  Juice Beauty and Alicia Silverstone have collaborated to create a non-toxic, organic line of nourishing products.  Nourishing they are indeed—this lipstick is full of super ingredients.  Shea butter and sunflower oil moisturize and protect lips while acai berry, goji berry, grape seed oil, and passionflower pack a powerful antioxidant punch.  “Purely Kissable” is also vegan and cruelty free, showing that makeup can be kind and healthy, as well as pretty and functional.   Finally, what I really like about this lipstick is that it doesn’t make my lips feel dry or flaky—a common problem with many conventional lipsticks.  The texture feels more like that of a thick balm.

The one bummer about this product is that it only comes in this color. While a light rose works well with my complexion, it may not be as flattering for others–or suit their styles.  Let’s cross our fingers that this is just the first of many lovely shades to come from Juice Beauty.
