So before we launch into this discussion, I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know that many Beyonce songs that have come out in the past 5 years… (Sorry, I’m 31 and only top 40 tunes I know are from barre class. True story.) But when a celeb of this magnitude goes vegan, launches a vegan food company, and then announces yet another incentive for people to go vegan for their own health and the planet’s, there are just no words. Bow!
Beyonce just announced yesterday via Instagram that if you go vegan, you’ll get a chance to win tickets to any Jay-Z or Beyonce concerts for life. We repeat, for life.
In 2015, Beyonce became the world’s most famous plant-eater (sorry Bill Clinton) when she announced on Good Morning America that she’d adopted a vegan diet.
“I am not naturally the thinnest woman. I have curves. I’m proud of my curves, and I have struggled since a young age with diets. And finding something that actually works, that actually keeps the weight off, has been difficult for me…. I felt like my skin was really firm, a lot tighter than when I deprived myself of food and got the weight off fast. And the weight stayed off,” she gushed.
Since then, she has launched 22 Days Nutrition Bars with her personal trainer Marco Borges. The concert sweepstakes is part of the greater Green Print Project, which invites people to transition gradually. “By eating just a few plant-based meals we can improve our environmental impact,” the site states. If you choose this route and replace just 1 omni meal a day with a vegan meal, you’ll reduce as much greenhouse gases as 46 trees in 1 month. That’s to say nothing of full-time vegans… We’re practically tree-people.
At a time when there’s a giant new hole in Antarctic ice sheet the size of Manhattan, and when we’ve been given until 2030 to reduce our carbon or face certain doom, *and* when our CO2 emissions in 2018 have increased by the biggest rate in the past 20 years, we truly admire Beyonce and Jay-Z’s conversion of people who may not have been previously interested in a vegan diet.
What about you? Are you motivated to go vegan to win Beyonce tickets? Or were you already vegan?
