Beauty Report: My favorite new Parabens-Free Lip Gloss

July 3, 2013

When I was in high school I used to buy make up from the drugstore (Wet n’ Wild! and remember Jane?!). Sometime in college I graduated to more “grown-up” brands like Bare Essentuals and Nars. Nowadays, I can afford to splurge on some very effective products as my VIP Sephora beauty insider card can attest (like a black Amex, except this one is for make up only). But even expensive brands are most often loaded with chemicals that may be harmful to your health, especially parabens (a preservative) and phthalates (plasticizer).buxom lip polish, lip gloss, healthy, beauty, make up review

Parabens has been shown to mimic estrogen, which has been linked to breast cancer. Phthalates on the other hand can cause birth defects in high doses. Seriously, there was a 60 Minutes special on how phthalates might be causing genital defects in unborn fetuses. Yikes! I definitely don’t want any of that stuff going inside my mouth.

That’s where Buxom’s Full On Lip Polish comes in–this lip gloss is shiny with a non-sticky texture, lasts for hours, and has a beautiful color (I have Tonya, a sparkly hot pink). But on top of that, it’s parabens-free, phthalates-free, and sulfate-free. Now I don’t have to sacrifice beauty or health.
