This Icelandic Vegan Skincare Line Keeps Sutton Foster Ageless & We Want All Of It

August 30, 2019

After years of Broadway stardom, Sutton Foster made her small-screen breakthrough in TV Land’s Younger as a forty-something woman who pretends to be a 26-year-old to score a job in publishing. That sounds like a ridiculous premise until you see Foster’s physics-defying energy and looks. Honestly, they should re-name the show Youngest.

There’s much, much more to Foster than good genes, of course. I first fell in love with her as a shy, awkwardly sweet Coco in Flight of the Conchords, and she’s won two Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical—no slouch! Her presence always seems to radiate that elusive quality, authenticity, that many people talk about but few achieve. In other words, she seems like a genuinely cool person from whom you’d love to get advice on everything, including of course, beauty. Here’s how she stays so glowing (hint: it’s not really about staying).

Move everyday

Surprising given her Broadway fame, Foster was not a natural athlete or a gym goer. “I used to hate it and you couldn’t drag me there, but now I can’t stand it if I don’t go, which seems weird. Now it’s become more routine, like brushing my teeth,” she told The Cut. She turns to Body by Simone to get into camera-ready shape and also incorporates yoga into her routine.

Think about your whole wellness

Foster says that before she turned 35, her outlook on wellness changed to be more about health than vanity. This means fruit- and vegetable-focused diet with moderate indulgences, taking daily baths with candles, and daily journaling to keep centered and balanced.

Believe in your own youth

“I feel like it’s all what you project and your mental state. I really do believe that youth comes from how you look at the world. I’ve always thought of myself as a young soul, or young for my age. I was a late bloomer, and I still feel like I’m 15,” Foster said. This is revelatory because I—as do almost all my friends—have gotten into the habit of saying, “Oh we’re X years old. That’s so old!” Since we were 27. Even casually spoken, these kinds of remarks can erode one’s confidence and energy.

She also says that you experience many of your firsts in your twenties, which is what makes it feel like your youth. “But what’s something new that I can learn now? That’s why I just started learning tai chi,” she notes.

Seriously, this woman is literally fire🔥

Moisturize religiously

“For as long as I could remember, I’ve never not put lotion on after a shower,” says Foster. This is making me cringe because I moisturize my body oh, once every three months or so! She also swears by a vegan beauty brand called Skyn Iceland. “They really cater to sensitive skin. They have these eye patches that are really great, an awesome day cream and night cream, and a great daily lotion that’s cooling, so in the morning when you have to wake up early you put it on and you’re like, Woo!”

Skyn Iceland the Antidote Cooling Daily Lotion, $46, fights inflammation such as acne or stress with Icelandic kelp

I can’t wait to try Skyn Iceland… And per Foster’s wisdom, I will never again say “I’m so old” even to myself!

What do you think of Foster’s lifestyle advice?
