Most mornings, I gather the courage open my news app and brace for the worst. Usually, I am not-surprised-yet-baffled by what I read. But occasionally, there’s a glimmer of something lovely that makes me smile. Such was the case with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s engagement. Sure, we saw it coming from a mile (kilometer?) away, but I think, for me at least, it was pleasant to live vicariously through the couple (if for but a moment!) ‘cuz sometimes it feels so darn good to seal the deal. (I was just graduating high school when Kate and William broke up, and I was *so* concerned. Why was I so invested in their relationship? Who knows! It was kind of like reaching the conflict in a rom-com–will it work out? will we get our happy ending?! Aggh!)

Of course, the engagement isn’t free of negative baggage—there was the whole incident with a particularly nasty brooch, and now Markle’s half-sister is stirring the pot…but let’s just take a moment to be happy for the couple and enjoy Markle’s fabulous style—which we couldn’t help but veganize!
