From Mattifying To Age-Defying, 5 Vegan Moisturizers That Are True To Their Word

December 6, 2017

There’s nothing like the feel of a creamy moisturizer on your parched face, especially in wintertime. Of course, a good skin care routine starts with getting plenty of water, fruits, and veggies. And we can’t underestimate the benefits of getting enough sleep for healthy skin and body. Still, moisturizer is essential for many of us. Personally, I like a moisturizer packed with wholesome ingredients, a soft scent, and zero cruelty! Let’s see how these five vegan moisturizers stand up to the test!

Vegan Moisturizer for a Youthful Glow

Pacifica Dreamy Youth Day & Night Cream 1.7 fl oz. $16.00

Pacifica is a 100% vegan and cruelty-free beauty brand based in Portland, Oregon. This versatile moisturizer comes in a slender plastic bottle that contains a smidge less than the typical 2 oz. moisturizer. It has a subtle floral scent that I find refreshing as well as soothing. And while it is a lightweight moisturizer, it still feels creamy and luxurious. It contains Pacifica’s Fleuracell Complex with floral stem cells, formulated to improve skin’s appearance. The moisturizer also contains antioxidants and hyaluronic acid (which may hydrate skin by attracting moisture to it).

Two Luxury Vegan Moisturizers that are Organic, Vegan, and Non-Toxic

OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream 2 fl oz. $48.00

OSEA is based in Malibu and is dedicated to safe skin care that is free from toxic chemicals. The company is vegan and cruelty-free as well! The Atmosphere Protection Cream is lightweight yet creamy and has a subtle and comforting scent of lavender. It’s a little pricey, but the quality shows even in details like the beautiful glass packaging. OSEA has an impressive line of skin care products that are worth a peek.vegan moisturizers

OSEA Advanced Atmosphere Protection Cream 2 fl oz. $98.00

Definitely the most expensive moisturizer on this list, the Advanced Atmosphere Protection Cream is a luxury item that comes in a gorgeous glass jar. I’m currently giving it a try in a sample size! It’s meant to be the thicker, anti-aging version of the Atmosphere Protection Cream and even has a similar scent. Those with extra dry skin may appreciate this one, too. It absorbs quickly. And though it leaves a sticky residue after application, it works great under makeup.

Organic and Vegan Moisturizer with Antioxidants

Juice Beauty Antioxidant Moisturizer 2 fl oz. $39.00

Focused on organic beauty, Juice Beauty is easy to like. This antioxidant moisturizer is available at my local Whole Foods, which makes it my go-to in a pinch. It features AHAs and hyaluronic acid. I expected a sweeter scent from an organic brand with a name like Juice Beauty. Maybe it’s just my own unique sniffer, but this particular product smells a bit clinical to me, so it’s not my favorite. Also note that it’s slow to absorb, requiring a bit of patience and extra massaging before the white streaks disappear.

Well-Rounded Vegan Moisturizer with SPF, Mattifying Kaolin Clay, and Age-Defense Peptides

Mineral Fusion SPF 15 Oil-Free Moisturizer 3.4 fl oz. $24.99

Mineral Fusion is a cruelty-free company with many vegan-friendly items in both skin care and makeup. This vegan moisturizer is unique for a few of reasons. It has SPF, for one! It also has Kaolin clay, which offers a mattifying effect. Plus, compared to the others on this list, it comes in a larger size at 3.4 fl oz. Other features include antioxidants and peptides for anti-aging. The active SPF ingredients are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which provide a physical (not chemical) barrier to the sun. What this means: it may give you a pale look under flash photography. Nonetheless, many prefer these natural sunscreens over chemical ones.
