Hold Your Ponies, Everything In This Online Grocery Store Is $3

July 17, 2017

If you have ever been grocery shopping, I am sure you are familiar with the process of scouring the aisles for your favorite brand of food, drink, beauty product, or kitchen tool. These brands invest millions of dollars in marketing to convince you, the consumer, that their product is the most reliable, safest, and most importantly–deserves your loyalty.

On average, consumers save about 25% when they opt to purchase the generic version of a product instead of the name brand version. Unfortunately, most of us buy the name brand product because we’ve been taught to believe these costs increase quality, but they usually do not. What if a grocery store existed that removes the price competition caused by national brands?

Welcome to Brandless.

Brandless

Brandless, launched on July 11, 2017, is an online grocery store that sells every single product for $3.00. From food items like organic olive oil to gluten-free brownie mix, household supplies, beauty products, and office supplies, you will be looking at one simple price for every item.

Brandless seeks to eliminate a concept called BrandTax™ which is the “hidden cost consumers pay for a national brand,” according to the company. The company achieves this simple pricing module by eliminating distributor costs, breakage costs, sales trade costs, and other fees associated with retail distribution.

Brandless co-founder and CEO Tina Sharkey explains the mission of her company as, “Our goal is to democratize access to awesome, amazing stuff at fair prices. We want to debunk the idea that better needs to cost more, because it actually doesn’t, and everyone deserves it.”

Although Brandless is currently not selling fresh produce, all of the food products are non-GMO, and many are organic and do not have any artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors. Brandless has also stated that they are against animal testing and their products are made under stringent safety, quality, and social ethics standards such as certified Global Food Safety (GFSI) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

After exploring the inventory, these are some of my favorite deals. Be sure to check it out for yourself!
