Editor's Picks: Best Vegan Boots for Fall

October 12, 2014

I know, I know. Shouldn’t this list have come out like, a month ago? But I don’t know about you–I’ve never done my fall shopping in August when it’s still quite sultry out. And in September, you feel like you can wear your ballet flats forever…until you realize just how cold the tops of your feet get once fall hits for real. I have this realization every single October.

But have you ever noticed how every cool girl since Jane Birkin has embraced boots as her style cornerstone? Your boots are a chance to re-focus your style message…make it a little less precious, a little more mysterious. (Have you ever noticed–and loved–how your basic sweater and jeans look just a touch tougher and insouciant with boots instead of heels? Yeah me too). So without further ado, here are my favorite picks for best vegan boots for fall!

Fall Style: Best Vegan Boots

Olivia Wedge from Coral 8, $49.99 (reduced from $88)

Great vegan wedge boots are like the perfect man: attractive, super sexy, and yet stable and won’t let you down at the end of a long day. (amiright?) The criss-cross at the front keeps things just interesting enough.

Cri de Coeur Raiku boots, $79.99

I love boots that are so basic and simple yet perfectly cool. It’s like the footwear version of the most sheer, perfect heather gray T. Wear with studied nonchalance.

Rocket Dog Sheela Baxter boot, $79.95

Here’s something a little more rustic chic than Brooklyn hipster (not that you couldn’t wear this in Brooklyn). This would go equally well with a flannel shirt and jeans (make it skinny to off-set the tomboyish top), or with a surprisingly feminine, sweet crochet lace dress.

Rocket Dog Cowell Harvey boot, $89.95

I love the top part, which can be folded down or kept over the knee. Wear with sweater dresses and leggings.

Beatrice Patent Block Heel Chelsea Boots, $75.98

To continue with the man analogy, this is the boot for which I’m feeling a magnetic attraction. Modern, confident, 3.5″ stacked heel (so, basically perfect for running around all day), simple but slightly edgy with just a hint of gold on the inside of the heel.

Missguided Eliza patent Chelsea boot, $47.48

Swap these boots in for your usual black ballet flats and voila! You’ve just mastered fall winter dressing, looking like your usual chic self but a little bit warmer.

Let’s talk boot personalities–what kind of boots do you wear, and with what?
