Vegan and Cruelty Free Makeup Dupes to Allure's Best of 2014

Find out cruelty free makeup dupes for the “Best of” mainstream beauty!

For any beauty product junkie, Allure‘s annual Best of Beauty Awards are a dream come true.  However, the majority of the products featured are not vegan or even cruelty free.  They include a small section of “natural” products to cater to their health-conscious readers, yet the most coveted products are not made entirely accessible to all beauty junkies.  What if you wanted to try the shade of red deemed the year’s best red, but you only use vegan and cruelty free makeup? Thus, the idea for Vegan and Cruelty Free Dupes for 2014’s Best Beauty Products was born!  Here are our dupes for a selection of the products featured on Allure‘s list.  Enjoy!

BASE:

Primer: Etherealle Perfect Skin Primer & Finishing Veil, sold on Etsy by Etherealle handmade natural beauty products.

Dupe for: Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Primer Skin Transformer & Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Foundation Primer

Etherealle’s primer is a mineral powder that eliminates oil and leaves skin looking luminous and fresh!

CC Cream: Pacifica Ultra CC Cream Radiant Foundation, sold by Pacifica Beauty and Target.

Dupe for: Olay Total Effects 7 in One CC Tone Correcting Moisturizer with Sunscreen

Pacifica’s CC cream has an SPF of 17 and also provides anti-aging benefits. It is available in Warm/Light and Natural/Medium and provides light to medium coverage.  This CC cream is perfect for days when you want a more natural make-up look!

Full Coverage Foundation: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Skin: Conceal Full Coverage Foundation, sold by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and Sephora

Dupe for: Marc Jacobs Beauty Marvelous Mousse

OCC’s full coverage foundation is a cream foundation that is available in 12 shades.  This foundation covered my moderate acne and dark circles so well that I did not need to apply any extra concealer, which is definitely a first for me.

Powder Blush, Bronzer & Highlight: Etherealle Mineral Contour, Highlight, and Blush in Hollow, Stark & Romance, sold on Etsy by Etherealle handmade natural beauty products.

Dupe for: Urban Decay Naked in Streak. Urban Decay is technically a cruelty free brand, but their parent company , L’Oreal Cosmetics, is NOT cruelty free.

Etherealle’s mineral contour, highlight, and blush powders are phenomenal! They provide skin with a natural flush and contoured look, without looking overdone.

Wearing Etherealle

Cream Bronzer, Highlight & Blush: Pacifica Coconut Multiples in Bronzed, Moonlit & Island Rose, sold by Pacifica Beauty and Target.

Dupe for: Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm (Blush) & Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Summer (Bronzer)

Pacifica’s Coconut Multiples palette is perfect for those with dry skin who are looking to add a little extra moisture to their daily beauty routines. The blush color is rather sheer, so you will need to use a few layers of it to achieve a more vibrant tone.

Cream Blush: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Creme Colour Concentrate, sold by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and Sephora.

Dupe for: Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm

OCC’s Creme Colour Concentrates provide vibrant color with staying power! A little definitely goes a long way with this particular product, so be sure to dab some of the color off of your brush before applying to your cheeks!

EYES:

Powder Eye Shadows:

Black: Etherealle in “Nero,” sold on Etsy by Etherealle handmade beauty products

Dupe for: Nars Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Sycorax

“Nero” is a deep, matte black that will add an elegant, sophisticated edge to any smokey eye!

Honorable Mention: For those of us who love  a little glitter from time to time (I know I do!), Etherealle’s “Goldmine” is the eye shadow for you! Goldmine is a black eye shadow with golden glitter in it that is sure to spice up your daily make-up routine.

Brown: Etherealle “Skylark,” sold on Etsy by Etherealle handmade beauty products.

Dupe for: Lancome Color Design Eye Shadow in Smoldering Cocoa

“Skylark” is a matte medium that is perfect for achieving the coveted “natural” eye make-up look!

Gray: Pacifica “Moonbeam” from the Mystical Supernatural Eye Shadow Palette, sold by Pacifica Beauty and Target.

Dupe for: Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Tisse Gabrielle (the stormy gray shade)

Though Pacifica’s Moonbeam is a bit lighter than the Chanel gray being featured, it is certainly an essential eye color to have in your beauty arsenal. It is light enough to achieve subtle shading, yet the color can also be built up to achieve a darker, stormier gray tone. This shade is also great for creating classic, vintage eye make-up looks!

Color: Etherealle “Oceans,” sold on Etsy by Etherealle handmade natural beauty products.

Dupe for: L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Timeless Blue Spark

“Oceans” is a lovely dark blue shade with a slight shimmer.  It is well-pigmented and long-wearing, which makes it the perfect addition to a fun make-up look for a night out!

Eyeliner:

Black: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Colour Pencil in “Tarred,” sold by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and Sephora.

Dupe for: L’Oreal Paris Silkissime Eyeliner

“Tarred” glides on smoothly and is extremely long-wearing.  It is a true black that is sure to add bold definition to your eye make-up!

Brown: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Colour Pencil in “Sybil,” sold by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and Sephora.

Dupe for: Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner in Sumatra

“Sybil” is a beautiful dark brown shade that is perfect for lining eyes and darkening brows!  It glides on effortlessly and won’t budge once it is applied.

Liquid: Lush Liquid Eyeliner sold by Lush fresh handmade cosmetics.

Dupe for: Revon ColorStay Liquid Liner

The tiny brush that comes with Lush’s liquid eyeliners is perfect for executing precise lines and achieving the perfect cat-eye! My current favorite shade is “Control,” a vibrant blue.

 Mascara:

Everyday: Pacifica Stellar Gaze Length and Strength Mineral Mascara, sold by Pacifica Beauty and Target.

Dupe for: Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher

Pacifica’s Stellar Gaze mascara is available in a black (Supernova) and a brown (Stardust).  It creates volume without creating clumps or weighing down your lashes.  For full, natural lashes, I definitely recommend this mascara!

Dramatic: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, sold by Too Faced, Sephora, and Ulta.

Dupe for: Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retroglam Mascara

When testing these two mascara against each other, it became nearly impossible for me to tell which was which! Too Faced’s mascara clumps less than the Rimmel version, and it is therefore easier to layer it.  Plus, the name and packaging are highly entertaining!

LIPS:

Red Lipstick: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Matte in “NSFW,”  sold by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and Sephora.

Dupe for: Iman Cosmetics Lipstick in Scandalous

OCC’S NSFW is almost identical to Iman’s Scandalous!  It is a bold, vibrant red that is perfect for anyone looking to make a statement this season.

Honorable Mention: Etherealle lipstick in “Cherry,” sold on Etsy by Etherealle handmade natural beauty products.

Though “Cherry” is more of an orange red than a true red, it is still a fun, flattering shade that would be a great addition to your make-up bag!

Lip Stain: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar, sold by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and Sephora.

Dupe for: Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain

OCC’s Lip Tars are liquid lipsticks with some serious staying power.  They do not dry out like many other lip stains, and their pigment is unbeatable! With tons of classic and unique shades to choose from, there is bound to be a lip tar that everyone will love!

Lip Balm: Yes to Coconuts Cooling Lip Oil, sold by Yes To and most drugstores.

Dupe for: Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr. Rescue

Yes to Coconuts Cooling Lip Oil is the only lip product that I have found that has actually kept my lips moisturized for more than five minutes.  Though it is not a traditional balm, it is exceptionally moisturizing, and the cooling effect it has relieves dry, painfully chapped lips.  This gloss also smells delicious!

Lip Scrub: Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, sold by Lush fresh handmade cosmetics.

Dupe for: Allure did not list any lip scrubs, but I felt the need to feature this product.

Lush’s Bubblegum Lip Scrub not only smells delicious, but it leaves soft and supple.  This sugar scrub sloughs off dry skin, leaving you with smooth, perfect lips!

NAILS:

Red: Zoya “Rekha,” sold by Zoya and Ulta.

Dupe for: Essie “Dress to Kilt”

“Rekha” is a beautiful, deep red that is sure to be a staple for any nail enthusiast this fall and winter!  This polish is fairly long-wearing and chip resistant!

HAIR:

Conditioner: Lush Veganese, sold by Lush fresh handmade cosmetics

Dupe for:  This is not a dupe for any specific conditioner listed in Allure’s 2014 Best of Beauty, it is just another product I felt needed to be featured.

Veganese is a light, creamy conditioner that moisturizes hair without weighing it down.  It has a great scent and is especially perfect for long hair!

Go forth and enjoy the year’s best beauty cruelty free and vegan beauty products!
