5 Gorgeous Eco Friendly Summer Dresses

May 21, 2014

Every year when the weather gets warmer, I get so excited about wearing more dresses. From September to April, I practically live in dark skinny jeans, but come spring, nothing feels more summery and easy than slipping on a dress–no need to worry about matching the top. Summer also brings plenty of opportunities for dress-wearing–think all the weekend brunches, picnics, weddings, BBQs, beach outings, etc. Here are my favorite summer dresses for any occasion.

Music Festival

Eco Friendly Style: Prettiest Summer Dresses

ASOS floral print reclaimed fabric maxi skirt ($95.27) with matching top ($57.16 )

While technically not a dress, this gorgeous maxi skirt with top begs to be worn to a boho music festival…or a casual brunch with girlfriends, a la Carrie Bradshaw.

Weekend jaunts at the farmer’s market

Eco Friendly Style: Prettiest Summer Dresses

Neuw “Shibori” maxi dress, $148

This breezy, patterned maxi dress by sustainable brand Neuw is perfect for strolling the weekend farmer’s market–or the cobblestone streets somewhere exotic, if you are lucky! The sexy cut-out back keeps the look fresh and not dowdy.

Outdoor wedding

Eco Friendly Style: Prettiest Summer Dresses

Moulinette Soeurs “Pasteque” pink jacquard dress with adjustable straps, $148

A structured strapless dress is a summer classic: wear with a slightly messy ballerina bun, rosy makeup, and statement earrings to your next lawn party or outdoor wedding.

Beach party

Eco Friendly Style: Prettiest Summer Dresses

Amy Matto Gingham Beach Dress, $113.40

Crisp, casual elegance: Think Hamptons or backyard party on Fire Island. Wear with espadrilles and oversized sunglasses. Ethically produced in NYC.

Rooftop bar–with your s.o. or your girls

Eco Friendly Style: Prettiest Summer Dresses

Frock LA “Samantha” tank dress, $75

Got a date night checking out that hot new rooftop bar with your s.o., or (better yet) your besties? No dress works harder than a little black dress to make you look hot. Especially one that is prim in the front, but dramatic and sultry at the back.  Bamboo blend dress made in California with 100% vegetable-based dyes.
