Holiday Detox Recipes: Lime, Kale, and Mint Smoothie

Holiday Detox Recipes: Lime, Kale, and Mint Smoothie

I am very excited about the holidays. I’ve got my favorite wintery soy candles burning, I’ve made impressive progress on my gift gathering (if I do so say, myself), and I can’t wait to hit the road for home in a few weeks.

But I also accept that at some point this month, I will feel a little Holiday Burn-Out. I expect this momentary weariness to occur sometime after I’ve (finally) finished grading my students’ final papers but before I’ve managed to untangle myself from ribbon and packing tape. But that’s okay. That’s part of the fun, right? It all pays off when you’re in the company of your loved ones, enjoying a cup of hot cocoa, and discussing those days of yore.

In the meantime, I plan to revive my body and spirits with this delicious green smoothie made with kale, lime, mint, and chia seeds. I’m also counting on it to help offset those oh so anticipated holiday indulgences.

Also, this smoothie quite sweet, despite its intense green color, and I’m willing to bet that it would even appeal to the non health-junkies among us, including your meat-and-potatoes uncle. So why not whip up a batch for the whole family? Spread love (and health) with fresh fruits and greens. Cheers!
